Carols by Candlelight

This year the annual school carol service was held
in Cavan Parish Church. The whole service was
conducted by candlelight. Our 40 piece choir sang a
variety of carols. Pupils took part in not only the choir,
but by doing readings, duets and solo pieces.
The service started off with Catherine Graham
singing ‘Go Light Your World’ while other students
performed a mime. As all that was going on, other
pupils walked out in two lines from the two doors at
the back carrying LED candles which they distributed
out among the congregation.
As well as Catherine Graham, we had solos from
Danny McKeon, who sang ‘Have Yourself a Merry
Little Christmas’ and Kelly Cartwright who sang ‘Hark
the Herald Angels’. Jodie Chapman and Abigael
Pierce sang a verse each of a chosen carol and then
were joined by the choir. We heard duets from Sarah
Cherry and Nicole Higgins and Aisling Conaty and
Maria Lynch who were accompanied by the choir.

This service was a truly magical experience. The
attention to detail was truly spectacular with the
flower arrangements and the candles burning
throughout the church, the lanterns which had been
placed both inside and outside the church, had
people “singing” our praises for days after.
