A message from the Headmaster
A number of years ago, Diversity came to fame as
a dance group which won a talent show on British
television. Though I am not a fan of such shows, I was
impressed by this group of young people who came
together to entertain the viewers. From memory,
it was approximately a dozen people of different
genders, sizes and ages who came together to perform
exhilarating routines to impress and cause to wonder
at the talent required. The group could not have been
successful without the input of all, whether to catch or
throw another member, whether to act as a support or
to be the main dancer in that part of the act.
In so many ways, this is exactly how the Royal School Cavan operates. Within our walls, there
is such a wide range of individuals, whether student or staff, young or old, rich or poor. Every
single person has those topics or activities for which they have a passion, and it is the aim of
the school to lend support where possible.
A student can be interested in singing or soccer, chess or carpentry, biology or basketball,
and the student can develop these interests as he or she desires. And yet, this must all come
together, as a performance, to allow the school to provide for all within its walls the opportunity
for growth as a community and ultimately in preparation for life in school and outside. I hope
that as you enjoy this magazine that you will be able to wonder at the diversity you will see.
Mr. Edward Lindsay.
