The Strypes
The Strypes appearance on the Late Late Show came about as a result of their 4 track EP
‘Young Gifted & Blue’ going to number 1 in the iTunes blues album chart the day after
its release! The single from the EP ‘You Can’t Judge A Book By The Cover’ is currently no
2 on the blues singles chart and is gaining a large amount of national radio airplay. Ian
Dempsey from Today FM made it his record of the week and the band have been invited
to record radio sessions for both the Tony Fenton show and the Paul McLoone show.
Also next week they will be interviewed on the RTE show Juice presented by Katie Van
Buren. The show will also screen their new video which has been critically acclaimed.
Since the release of their CD, the boys have been interviewed by, or featured in, The
Anglo-Celt, The Evening Herald, The Independent and The Irish Times.
They have a very busy touring schedule with regular gigs in all the music clubs in
Dublin, Belfast etc. On May 6th, they will make their London debut at the 229 venue on
Great Portland St. Over the summer they will perform at many major festivals at home
and abroad. The most notable being Electric Picnic, The Westport Summer Festival with
Jools Holland and The Euro Ye Ye Festival in Gijon, Spain. They will also return to Stroud
Valley Arts space in Gloucesteshire, UK, to perform with Keith Allen, father of Lily Allen,
who they played with at the same venue last November. In August they will play in
the world famous Cavern club in Liverpool as part of International Beatle Week and in
November they are booked to play some dates in northern Italy. They will finish off the
year with their biggest gig to date by appearing at the O2 in Dublin with fellow Irish
band The Coronas.
We wish Evan and the band every success.
