Royal School Cavan
Enterprise Success
The Royal School Cavan has qualified to represent the North East region in the national final of the
Junior Achievement Mini Company Competition to be held in Citibank in Dublin later in the year.
The regional final was held in the Glencarn Hotel, Castleblaney on Thursday the 15th March. There were
over 70 entries from schools all over Cavan, Monaghan and Louth with only 11 of these qualifying for
the regional final. The Royal School’s ‘Éasca Péasca’ came out top and will be heading to Dublin on 2nd
May 2012 for the National Final.
The companies had to set up a trade stand in the morning and were interviewed by two judges. Then in
the afternoon they had to present their product/service to the assembled crowd.
Their winning company ‘Éasca Péasca’ is a user friendly, interactive learning aid for teachers to use with
their students. ‘Éasca Péasca’ means ‘Easy Peasy’ in Irish.
It can be used in conjunction with interactive white boards in the classroom or simply used in desktop
or laptop computers at home. It is aimed towards 10-15 year olds and contains 40 slides and over 70
printable worksheets. It covers the 10 themes on the national curriculum for Irish. Verbs and phrases
and much more are also covered. The CD has been very well received by teachers in the region who
were happy to buy and use this product in their classrooms.
The company is made up of 7 students. Alison Hewitt
(Managing Director), Sally McConkey, Fionnan Moore,
Emmanuel Galligan, Jamie Galligan and Sanjo Babatunde.
They are really looking forward to representing the North
East region and their school in the National Final.
This Mini Company also had great success in the Cavan
Student Enterprise Awards in The Slieve Russell Hotel on
March 6th when they came 2nd out of 56 entries in the
