An information evening will take place on Thursday 23rd February for all TY students and their parents. This information evening will replace the TY Parent-Pupil-Teacher meeting that was scheduled for 13th March 4:15pm – 6:45pm.

The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that TY students make informed decisions around their Leaving Certificate subjects. The meeting will be approximately 1.5 hours in duration.

In order to ensure that we can have as many parents and students as possible attend this evening, please complete a short survey on the best start time for this evening. There are two options, 5pm start or 6pm start. The start time will be based on the majority result. Please complete this survey on or before Tuesday 24th January.

A public consultation has now opened on the background paper and review brief for the redevelopment of senior cycle SPHE. It is most important that school communities, educators, parents, and students have a voice in this process and the NCCA’s consultation pathways are set out here:

https://ncca.ie/en/senior-cycle/curriculum-developments/senior-cycle-social-personal-and-health-education-sphe/

Alternatively, schools and individuals can email sphedevelopments@ncca.ie to share their perspectives on questions such as:

  • Should senior cycle SPHE be mandatory for all senior cycle students in all schools?
    Why/why not?
  • How much time should be allocated to SPHE in senior cycle?
  • In framing a senior cycle curriculum, what’s the really important learning that young people need to acquire in SPHE?

The consultation closes at 5.00pm on 6th December next.
