ZEMINAR
On Wednesday the 12th of October, all of the Transition importance of telling people how you feel. Bressie also
Year students set off on a trip to the R.D.S in Dublin to talked about his anxiety attacks and how he got one while
Mental Health Zeminar. The teachers had given us a list filming a live episode for the T.V show “ The Voice “. Bressie’s
of times that different speakers would be speaking at. The talk was both emotional and inspirational. We were all very
main speaker that everyone really wanted to hear was lucky to have had the opportunity to hear it. When the talk
Bressie. had ended, it was time for us to head back to school after
a brilliant day.
When we first arrived at the R.D.S we all split up and went
to the different information stands to find out about Emma Abbott
different mental health organisations such as “Teenline“
and “Spunout“. There was also lots of colleges and
universities there for students to find out information on
courses that they might be interested in for the future. The
whole R.D.S had such a positive atmosphere and everyone
had a great time. The first talk that we attended was by
the social media celebrity Jamie Harrington, he spoke
about his experiences with depression and how he once
was put in the difficult situation of talking someone out
of committing suicide. Jamie’s talk was extremely well
done and inspirational. After the Jamie Harrington talk we
went to get something to eat before Bressie came on. Not
everyone got into the room where Bressie was giving the
speech, but I being one of the lucky few managed to get
in. His speech was phenomenal to say the least. He spoke
about how he struggled and fought against depression
and how hard he tried to hide it from everyone, during
his career in sport and also in his music career. He spoke
about how it’s okay not to feel happy all the time and the
