A message from the Headmaster
A school, by its nature, is many things to many people.
Of course at the heart of it must be the opportunity to
learn, whether through teaching or experience. For
others, it is a place of employment, providing for families
both inside and outside the Royal School Cavan. For
some, it is a gateway to the world, allowing dreams to
be achieved or new visions to be obtained. For others
again, it is a place where values are upheld and passed
on to all members of the community.
One of these values which exists in the school is the care
and attention that each person has for everyone else
they meet. This is shown in many ways, but one which
has impressed me is how doors are held open for others to pass through. I have observed
that it does not matter if you are the smallest first year or the largest senior, whether you are
a student, member or staff or a visitor to the school, the manners shown are done without
thinking, placing extra worth on everyone we meet. It says “You are that important that I will
give up some of my time to make life a little easier for you”.
It is on such little values that the Royal School Cavan is built. If it were to go, I do not believe
that it would be possible to reintroduce. So to all who held a door for me this last year –
THANK YOU!
Mr. Edward Lindsay.
