On Wednesday we quickly realised that they hadn’t come
for an “interview” but they had just come to announce the
          winners.

Words couldn’t describe our joy when we heard that we had
come in the top 5 schools of the Irish Angus Schools Beef
Competition and that we would be getting 5 Angus calves.
Next stage is getting our calves at the National Ploughing
Championships in September as well as promoting the breed
along the way. We also have to do a project about some topic
in agriculture and finally slaughter our calves in November
2019 making sure that we get the off season winter bonus.
Overall it was a truly amazing experience, we gained and
are still gaining a wealth of knowledge from all the different
people we have met along the way, and we would all jump to
          do something like this again.

                                      First Year History Trip

On the 5th of March the first year students, Ms. Reilly, Ms. Trenier and
Ms. Cherry went to New Grange Heritage site in County Meath. The bus
left the school at half past nine and we arrived at New Grange at around
          eleven o’clock.
Due to the weather we were unable to go up to the tomb but when
we went into the museum we watched two videos about New Grange
and the people that built it. After the videos our guide brought us into a
replica of New Grange so we could see what it is like, they even turned off
the lights and recreated the winter solstices. Then we went to a window
so we could see the tomb on the hill. Once everyone had seen the tomb
we all had to go and fill in a worksheet that Ms Trenier had bought for us.
After everyone had filled in the worksheet we all went to explore the
museum. In the museum there were lots of historical artefacts to view.
At the end of the trip we all gathered in the museum for a group picture.
On our way back to school we stopped at a shop and everyone got
something to eat. At around half past three we arrived back at school,
while we waited for the last bell to ring we finished off our worksheets.
