PORTFOLIO
PREPARATION
FOR ART COLLEGE
I think many students can relate to the fact that they don’t fully
know what they want to do in college during fourth or fifth year.
I would like to offer a little bit of advice, before I go into detail of
my experience: make sure you don’t freak out! Just realise that it
will be alright and that everything will slot into place. You will find
what you really want to do. Just be diligent and you’ll persevere
no matter what.
I personally think that the key to presenting an impressive art portfolio is to plan.
I researched some colleges to submit my portfolio to. I wanted to stay within the
vicinity of Dublin and researched IADT ( Dún Laoghaire Institute of Arts, Design
and Technology ) and DIT ( Dublin Institute of Technology)
Ms. Burns, our art teacher helped me with choosing some of my best art works to
put in as a finished A2 piece for the portfolio. Ms. Burns also spent her time placing
orders, and guiding me so that I would have the best possible portfolio to submit.
I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent working on this portfolio as I knew it would
produce a marvellous result.
I submitted my portfolio and to my delight IADT offered me a place on the day to
study Fine Art.
I genuinely would like to thank my parents, my
friends and my teachers for the amazing support
and help they have given me not just for this final
year but for the past years also.
