SHOW RACISM
THE RED CARD
Wear Red Day is Friday, 25th November 2016. In school students and staff wore red
on the day to raise support for the work of Show Racism the Red Card. Everyone
wearing red paid €2. As part of the TY photography module, pictures were taken
and a competition was held to Show Racism the Red Card in our school.
Show Racism the Red Card is an anti-racist charity that has been growing
from 1995 when Shaka Hislop donated £50stg to a local anti-racism campaign
in Newcastle upon Tyne. Show Racism the Red Card is now present in United
Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Ireland. The charity
was formally launched in Ireland in 2006.
They produce anti-racist educational resources, which help to tackle racism.
Their educational materials are very accessible and have been very successful.
Their resources include their video, education pack, factsheets, downloadable
interactive resources and online training module, which are all used to help
tackle racism. They deliver programmes which help impact to tackle racism and
promote integration.
