The team was entered into the North East
Regional league. The first game was away
to local Cavan rivals - St. Clare’s College,
Ballyjamesduff. Despite being their first game
of the league, the Royal started promisingly
and were up 22-12 at the midway interval.
They brought the same intensity into the last
two quarters and won the match on a score
line of 38-21.
The next match was away to Beechhill
College, Monaghan. The Royal struggled
to regain the form that they showed in the
previous match as Beechhill’s defence was
watertight. Beechhill proved to be too strong
for our boys and won the match convincingly Back Row (L-R): Emmanuel Bakare, Mr Brady, Femi Oyakhire Agge,
on a score line of 45- 15. Michael McKeon-Boyle, Adam Syed

1ST & 2ND YEAR BOYS
The first and second year boys were also
entered into the North East League. The
first match was against St. Clare’s College.
The 1st Years showed some great heart and
managed to secure the win against a strong
side (19-15). No such joy for the second years
who lost the match – (54-18). Being their first
game they were slow to get into the game
in comparison to St. Clare’s who were very
quick out of the blocks and applied some
serious pressure.
The next games were against Beechhill who Back Row (L-R): Mitchell Clapp, Nick Palmer, James Moore, Jamie Dugdale,
are always tough opposition. The Beechhill Mr Brady, Ivo Avramov
boys were well drilled and acquitted Front Row (L-R): Mark Williamson, Jack Gilmore, Joshua Ajayi, Ewan Garland,

themselves very well beating our first years
(19-15) and our second years (21-14).
The next game was against Colaiste Oriall. 1st Year Basketball
Both teams showed great teamwork and
spirit. The first years sealed the win beating
them 17-14 and progressed into the quarter
finals. The second years gave a gallant effort
but Colaiste Oriall came out on top, winning
narrowly.
The 1st Years were drawn against De La
Salle of Dundalk, who is regarded as one
of the favourites for the competition. De La
Salle gave an exhibition of great play in the
opening quarter however our boys soaked
up the pressure well. As time went on the
boys from Dundalk found their rhythm and
managed to secure a place in the semi-
finals, beating us 40-21. Back Row (L-R): Nathan Tobin
