A message from the Headmaster
If you have ever lived with or been around any young
children, I would be very surprised if you had never
heard the complaint “There’s nothing to do!” No matter
the age of the person involved, it is often the case that
there is much to do if the person was bothered to look.
As life in the Royal School Cavan goes, it would be very
difficult for anyone to make such a claim. During the
school day, there are very few students who do not
have a full timetable of subjects to be prepared for,
participating in or following up. During the break times,
many students get involved in sports such as football, basketball, pool or tennis, while those
who are not so keen on such activities can still get involved in chess, Christian Union,Green
Schools or read in the library. After school, along with the usual sports, the choir meet to
practise, while the newly offered evening study is becoming more and more popular. If you
are a boarder, facilities have been improved with the help of the Student Council with a much
improved Common Room with wi-fi provided.
This is only a brief overview of some of the activities that can be found in Royal School Cavan
and I hope you enjoy reading more about these in the rest of the magazine. At worst, it should
avoid for a short period the claim of nothing to do!
Mr. Edward Lindsay.
