Welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to Royal School Cavan. We hope that this prospectus will answer some
of your questions that you may have about our school and give an insight into what we offer. We are a
co-educational progressive and caring school under the patronage of the Cavan Protestant Local Board of
Education. The school has a long and proud history in education provision since 1611.
We in Royal School Cavan strive for each student to be happy and secure here and to reach their full potential
in a caring and co-operative community. Our school motto ‘Ad Vitam Paramus’ – ‘We are preparing for life’
– summarises the overall ethos of our school. Our overarching vision is to provide ‘A caring and respectful
environment that empowers learning’.
Our school is committed to a high-quality education provision as well as an extensive range of extra-
curricular and co-curricular activities which promote the holistic development of our students.
Our students are encouraged by our excellent team of teachers to work hard and to reach their full
potential. Our staff are constantly up skilling and are innovative in their teaching, learning and assessment
methodologies, teachers are very much aware of the diverse needs of our students. They are supported by
a committed Special Educational Teachers (SET).
We are acutely aware that the transition from primary school to post-primary school can be very daunting for
our incoming students. We have a very good support structure in place for all in-coming Form 1 students,
that endeavours to make this transition as easy as possible for them.

We acknowledge the primary role of parents/guardians in the education of their children and always
maintain a close relationship with you through the Parents’ Association, Parent-Pupil-Teacher meetings,
School Journal, and our website. In addition, you are always welcome to visit the school to discuss your
child’s progress.
