CHRiSTiAn Union
Christian Union was held in Ms.Poyntz’s room every
second Thursday. At each meeting held by our chair
person Kate Agaba we would have a group of about
twenty students where we would be joined by various
guest speakers, sing songs and have fellowship. As it
was lunch time there was lots of treats!
This year we were fortunate to have so many first years
join the Christian union. To help us to get to know one
another we played lots of ice breaker games to bond as
a group and to make everybody feel comfortable. Our
aim is to have an environment where everyone feels
that they can talk openly and discuss our faith and any
problems we may face as Christians.
Last November our CU group was invited by Armagh
Royal to attend their CU formal which was held in the four seasons in Monaghan. Twenty students
from both the Royal and the Collegiate in Monaghan joined the Armagh CU for a fantastic evening.
It was a brilliant opportunity to meet other students, make
friends, catch up with old ones and get ideas for our own CU!
In February of this year we attended the annual Royal CU’s
gathering. This year it was held in the Royal School, Raphoe
in County Donegal. All five Royal Schools met in a fun filled
afternoon of worship and games.
It was a successful year for the CU this year and I hope that it
continues to grow from strength to strength.
