The Student Council
The pupils of the Royal School are represented by the student council each year, which is made up
of two students from each year group. This year I had the privilege of being nominated by my fellow
classmates to represent them on the student council.
This year the student council decided to focus on student wellbeing and encourage positive mental
health practices throughout the school. As part of Wellbeing week we asked all students to wear a blue
ribbon on the lapel of their blazer to mark the occasion of Blue Monday. We posted many different
inspirational quotes on people’s lockers to help get people through the day. We also used some of the
money we had fundraised to give away a variety of fresh fruit at lunch time. Wellbeing week was a great
success and we hope to run it again next year.
The council met regularly each month throughout the school year to discuss the different problems that
the students might have and we tried our best to find a resolution for them. We also discuss fundraiser
events to help with charities and renovating parts of the school that need redone. We are constantly
aware of the changing needs of the student population and we strive to improve life in the school for
all students. We would like to thank Ms Reilly for facilitating the student council meetings throughout
the year.
