Dublin Zoo
We decided on the stewardship option when completely our C.S.P.E. ‘Action Project’. We contacted
Dublin Zoo and adopted three animals. The animals were an Orang-utan, Amur Tiger and the White
Horned Rhino. To the boy’s disappointment, we weren’t allowed to keep them but our money instead
went on feeding the animals and a contribution towards animal preservation worldwide. We held
a raffle to raise money for this good cause and also arranged a visit to the zoo. The Zoo was a really
enjoyable experience as we were there early so all the animals were out in the open. Also, as it was a
weekday, very few people were present so we had the place to ourselves.
We interviewed the zoo gamekeeper who told us many interesting facts about the animals, viewed all
the animals, ate in the ‘Meerkat’ restaurant and bought cuddly toys in the gift shop. The trip made us
realise the damage man is doing to these endangered species and how we must act now before it is
too late. Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational day away from the Royal!
