The Piggy Bank

This year some of the Transition year students took part in the AIB Build A Bank
challenge. The team members were: Tolayo Akinlabi Bank Manager, Lorraine
Trenier Assistant manager, Sally McConkey Auditor, Aisling Kells and Dawn
Smyth the two Tellers and Hope Jameson in charge of Sales and Marketing. We
set up and ran our ‘Piggy Bank’ every Wednesday in the library at lunchtime,
where students came, lodged money and opened new accounts.
Santa made an appearance for a special Christmas opening. We held the
Official opening in January. The Bank Manager from Cavan came down and
opened the Bank.
In March we went to a competition in Leopards Town in Dublin, where schools
from all over Ireland came to win the overall AIB Build a Bank challenge prize.
Unfortunately we didn’t win but we had a good day.

We managed to create lots of new accounts for AIB and it was a wonderful
learning experience.
