Cheerio’s Childline
Breakfast
Cheerio’s Childline Breakfast Together Week asked
individuals, families, friends, crèches, schools and
companies to hold a breakfast and raise funds for ChildLine.
This year the breakfast took place on the 9th of October.
Each pupil brought in €2.50 for the breakfast where they
could eat as much as they wanted, this may not seem like a
lot of money to us but it will really go to good use.
Before school on the morning of the event, the transition
year students had to carry out the preparations. On the day
BJ and I stayed at the orange juice stand and served the
orange juice. As the pupils moved through the breakfast
room they got to choose muesli or a box of Cheerios.
We served toast with butter and jam this year for the first
time at the cheerios breakfast. When all the people had left
we had to clean up after. Everything was completely gone.
Childline is a 24hour counselling service for children and
teenagers up to the age of 18. Childline deals with any
issue which causes stress or concern, such as child abuse
or bullying. Because Childline gets no funds from the
Government it depends greatly on donations from people
who raise money at events such as this.
Overall we raised €412.80.Thank you to Ms Poyntz, Mr
Galligan and the Transition Year students for all the effort
they put in!!!
Steven Abbott.
