KILLARY ADVENTURE TRIP
Day 1
The trip started off with the excruciatingly long bus journey that was 4 hours long,
that included a 1 hour bus stop in a wonderful shop full of food! When we arrived
at the Killary adventure centre, we went to our rooms to unpack our belongings.
The beds were surprisingly very comfortable; however the showers were not the
best. The instructors then went over the itinerary of the trip, which consisted of
a treacherous 18km hike, and a day full of team building exercises and also the
“Turf Warrior Challenge”.
After our “short” walk, we returned back to the adventure centre. We showered
and got dressed for the evening of activities and dinner. After dinner we began
the evening activities, which was mainly a terrifying game of dodgeball where
everyone had the eternal feeling of being fatally struck in the face (which I was).
Obviously my team won, we also played the flexible game with the cereal box,
and who stole the bacon. We were then given hot chocolate and sent to bed as
most of us were exhausted.
Day 2
We were woken early, as it was the day where we initiated our 18km walk. We got
changed and went up to have breakfast and make our lunches as we wouldn’t
be back till around 5pm, so we would definitely miss lunch. The walk was quite
beautiful, with the lovely ocean view. However the mountain…. that was not
beautiful nor pretty, it was truly a nightmare. Going up it was fine, but coming
down that was another story, everyone was slipping and sliding everywhere. I
tripped and fell many times. Even
when we reached the bottom, the
instructors said “There are only 2
hours left!”. That truly broke my spirit.
When we finally returned, I ran to my
bed and fell upon it.
