We have temperature gauges in each
classroom and other areas of the school.
The temperatures are regularly recorded
which is part of our energy audit. We aim
to keep the temperature at 18-200 which
is the optimum temperature. If we do this
we can help reduce the school’s heating
bill by 10%. We encourage teachers to turn
down the thermostat on their radiators
and switch them off if not needed.
We’re also trying to switch off lights when
not needed. We noticed that lights are left
on around the school when we don’t need
them. If there’s enough natural daylight
we don’t need lights on. There are plans
to replace all bulbs in the school with low-
energy lightbulbs.
