Royal School Cavan

We hope that this website will give you an insight into the life and community of our school. We hope that this site is informative, helpful and interesting. The site was developed and is maintained by the Transition year pupils' during their web design module, under the instruction of one of their teachers'.

Our mission is to bring the curriculum of the school and the facilities offered entirely into line with the demanding and changing educational requirements of the new millenium and thereby provide quality education for all our pupils in the Christian Ethos.

A brief history

The Royal School Cavan is one of the Ulster Royal Schools which where founded during the reign of James 1, at the time of the Ulster Plantation. The first Headmaster was John Robinson who was appointed on the 5th. Of October 1611. The School has an unbroken educational tradition in County Cavan since then, becoming the country's second co-educational boarding school in 1924.

It is under Protestant management and is managed by the Board of Management. This is a board set up under the Education Act of 1998.
